iPad Discipline Policy

THE TWO MAIN MINOR OFFENSES THAT WE ARE PRESENTLY EXPERIENCING ARE STUDENT MESSAGING AND PLAYING GAMES DURING INSTRUCTION.

NO MESSAGING APPS SHOULD BE ON THE iPAD.  [STUDENT MESSAGING COULD BE A MAJOR OFFENSE DEPENDING ON THE CONTENT OF THE MESSAGE.]

IF AN EDUCATIONAL GAME IS IN THE LESSON PLAN, THEN THAT IS APPROPRIATE USE.  WE WILL FOLLOW A PBS TYPE MODEL FOR MINOR OFFENSES.

1ST OFFENSE: TEACHER TALKS TO STUDENT AND DOCUMENTS INCIDENT ON THE iPAD PBS SPREADSHEET.

2ND OFFENSE: TEACHER CALLS PARENT AND DOCUMENTS INCIDENT ON THE iPAD PBS SPREADSHEET.

3RD OFFENSE: IPAD IS TAKEN AND PARENT MEETS WITH AN ADMINISTRATOR AND IPAD IS RETURNED TO THE STUDENT.

4TH OFFENSE: IPAD IS TAKEN FOR TWO WEEKS

5TH OFFENSE: IPAD IS TAKEN FOR FOUR WEEKS

MAJOR OFFENSE

  1. PROFANITY OR INAPPROPRIATE LANGUAGE
  2. PICTURES IN VIOLATION OF DPSB INTERNET USE AGREEMENT
  3. BULLYING

AS ALWAYS, THE PRINCIPAL HAS DISCRETION FOR ISSUES NOT SPECIFICALLY STATED IN THIS POLICY.
