North DeSoto High Eco Car W.I.N. Engineering Project Competes at the" Shell International Eco Car Marathon" in Houston Texas

This group competed against Collegiate and High School teams such as MIT, LA. Tech ,Cal Poly, Purdue, Oregon, Houston, Brazil, Benton LA, Illinois, Washington, etc . North Desoto's car qualified for the race completing 6 miles in 19 minutes at an average of 95 Miles per Gallon making it 28th of 49 in the Prototype division. The Students designed and built the car from scratch using parts from bicycles, 50cc scooter motor, motorcycle parts, drive train sprockets and chain assemblies and chasis bent, fabricated and welded in North Desoto's Ag shop. Students had to meet fuel and electrical system requirements such as wiring diagrams, safety, strength, fuel system and weight limits. The outer shell was fabricated out of fiberglass and assembled in our shop.
